ABOUT DISCIPLESHIP UNIVERSITY
Being a student isn't easy, is it? Classes, schedules, homework, and assignments require a lot of effort. It is even more difficult when we are trying to fit in and must deal with our friends, classmates, and teachers who may not believe the same things we do. Likewise, being a Christian can be difficult too. Temptations are all around us! How do we deal with it all? What can I say or do that will let me be who I am and still pleasing to God? I call myself a Christian, but am I being a true follower of Christ? Am I leading others to Him?
Discipleship University was created to help you with that Dilemma. DU wants to give you the knowledge, skills, and resources to help you in your Christian walk. Learn how to deal with everyday issues and problems, get answers about true New Testament Christianity, find out what Jesus meant when He said, "I have given you an example."
This weekend is designed for you. When you step foot into Discipleship University, your college experience has begun. For this weekend, you will be learning what it truly means to become a disciple of Christ. You have the opportunity to better equip yourself through many ways. Each breakout session will have four different speakers, so YOU choose what class you want to attend. If you are wanting to go to two classes and you can't decide, we have made it to where you will be able to at least read a blog article about the certain subject you had to miss. You will walk through your four years of school as breakout sessions, get to experience many amazing singing sessions, have many opportunities to interact with old and new friends alike, and hear three keynote lessons. We want you to be best equipped before you leave our University, so we find it important to present you with the best opportunities to grow as we can.
THIS YEAR'S THEME
This years theme is Without a Doubt: Defending Your Faith With Confidence. This year we will have a study on many apologetic topics that will help you be able to defend your faith with more confidence than ever before. We will study things concerning evolution, the problem of suffering, the existence of God, and the Biblical view on homosexuality and gender issues. Our keynote speaker, Eric Lyons, has been laboring with Apologetics Press and is one of the best when it comes to talking about apologetics and the need for understanding apologetics in the church. We are looking forward to four wonderful lessons from Eric that will help us defend our faith with confidence.
A CAPELLA SINGING
During the singing at Discipleship University, we will all join together in praising God in song without the use of musical instruments (Ephesians 5:19, Colossians 3:16). This singing should be with the instrument of the heart. Therefore, we will sing A Cappella at this event and in our worship services. In case anyone is unfamiliar with one of the songs, the words are available on a screen in front of the auditorium. We highly encourage that we sing with our voices only and ask that you please refrain from clapping, snapping, or stomping during any of the songs.
